Exam stress and Den Haag!
2012
Only 3 days in Gent and my stress level is sky high again! Tomorrow I’ve the exam I’m most afraid for... Pattern making! Although I like to make patterns, I do not like it now. Normally I’ve my reader near with the steps, but with the exam it has to come all out of my tiny little head. Help?

A couple of weeks ago I told you guys that I had to sew a coat, inspired by Thierry Mugler, for pattern making. That coat is already ready for a few weeks, but I didn’t have the time to post it. But with no lessons and only 1 paper to go, had could schedule some time to blog. And what do you think? Pretty nice huh, for some who couldn’t sew or make patterns before her minor!

I’m a hug Christmas fan. When the first Christmas things are hitting the store, I’ve to hold myself so I'm not buying anything. Now I’m here in Gent and the days before Christmas are coming closer; I miss home more and more. Especially decorating the Christmas tree with my sister and mom. I was really sad about that thought and that I didn’t have a Christmas tree in Gent. But this changed when my boyfriend bought me a Christmas tree. Because I’m a student I don't have much money to buy stuff to decorate it. But I can tell you it didn’t cost me a hunderd euro’s. Unfortunately it isn’t a really one, but a really one in a student room without a vacuum cleaner... Not such a good idea!
Read moreFor the main project of my minor we had to find a way to recycle old carpet. We thought about a lot of things, but we ended up with the ReBiBag. A basket for your bicycle. We made two prototypes; unfortunately we had to hand one in to Associated Weavers which was our ‘client’ and one for our school. So what do you think of our project? Nice isn’t it!

Because of my stay in Belgium I almost missed out on a traditional Dutch holiday. Sinterklaas! Although I’m too old to believe in him, it’s still one of my favorite holidays. So together with my fellow Dutchies in Gent we decided to celebrate it, with a dice game.

It has been already 4 days since my last blog. I’m so busy, had 3 deadlines running this week. One of those deadlines you can see in this post. My very own, self drawn, tuxedo collar. Sown on my very own sewing machine! You can also see some picture I took from Gent by night. Well, now I’m going to get back behind my sewing machine to sew another deadline. When it’s ready, I’ll be posting it right here immediately! Enjoy your weekend!

Last Wednesday it was sushi and movie time with the girls! Together with my two other friends from Holland and two classmates we order sushi. And it was GOOD! After the sushi, we had homemade cheesecake. Made by Evie’s boyfriend. Could a night with the girls be more perfect?

Tadaa! The result of my dress, on a doll. Got an 2,5 out of 5 for it and here in Belgium that’s just enough. Well that’s one thing off my back! At the end of this nerve-wracking day we went out for cocktails with our Belgium ‘mom’. She one of our classmates and super sweet and helpful! And yesterday’s other good thing was Jan, who came to surprise me. So drinks with the girls and with Jan. PERFECT!

Ladies and Gentleman, the reason my blog was so dead the past few days. My first handmade dress. And what kind of dress... Here in school they learn how to make patterns and we are way, waaay behind. So for pattern making we had to make a dress, but not just a dress. No a combination between an ugly dress and a pretty Armani dress, with all kinds of folds.
